Day 8, Yellowstone!, Camping in the rain

Yellowstone was such a place to experience the power of the the earth. With all of the boiling pots of sulfur,  the huge buffalo, the cliffs on both sides of the rushing river, the park was stunning to say the least. At the end of all our amazement we had to find a place to set up camp in the rain, which I did not want to do, especially in Grizzly country. But we managed to extend a tarp from the tent to the fire with our table nestled safely out of the rain. I cooked up some chili and Ben set up the tent, and we had a fairly warm and cozy night despite the falling 40 degree temps and persistent beating of raindrops overhead.

Day 9, Rain, Tetons, Sunshine in Utah, Rain

The morning came quickly, and in the smallest of light from dawn we repacked ol Rhonda in the drizzles of the continuing storm. I was thrilled when I sat down inside of the truck, ready to site see from a warm cab.

 The incredible Teton Mountain range.

Day 10, Entering Bryce Canyon National Park

With the girth of the wild ride behind us, we were winding down through the mountains and into the grand stair casing of canyon land. We enjoyed the relief of the warm red rock, crystal clear skies with their little white puffy clouds cheerily drifting past, and promise of a happy ending to the rain.

As we approached this gorgeous lookout point "inspiration point", we noticed the soft notes of a piano chorus in the distance. As we drew closer to the breathtaking vista, there on a single file cliff finger, a man madly moving his fingers across the keys of, yes, a piano.... on a cliff. It appeared they were filming some sort of music video. So of course we didn't object to letting the smooth sounds of this pianist enlighten the perspective of the sunset in front of us.
The piano close-up.

And for those of you who are as dumbfounded as we were at this very moment in real life, please take a moment to further your confusion in a good way, by viewing the actual, music video... that we were witnessing first hand.

boom.
